What Happens When The Good Ones Walk Away?

When I was a police officer, for many of us, it was a calling.  There were those who considered it just a job, but they didn't last long.  For many of us, we knew we were in it for the long haul, and did everything we could to root out the bad cops.  But, we knew that if we made a mistake, or had a bad day, the bosses would stand behind us.  There might be consequences, but generally, we knew that we could rely on our training, our professionalism, and our brothers.

Not so much, anymore.  Every day is career day.  Every day may be the day that your career is over and you go to jail.  So, the question becomes: What will police owrk look like in five years?  Who is going to do the hard work of standing between anarchy and civilization?  What are the politicians going to do when the good ones just walk away?

It's a question that deserves an answer.

That is the twenty Trillion dollar question.

It will bite them in the ass when property values and the value of businesses crash. What is a house worth if you cannot safely drive to it, go outside and are at risk of home invasions or building fires (fire fighters are prohibited from fighting fires when the site is 'unsecured')?

What will businesses be worth when employee and customer vehicles are vandalized or carjackings occur in parking lots?

Without property values and viable businesses, how will "Woke" cities generate revenue and pay for the murals and street theater and million dollar mayors?

Move to a small town where people still go to church while you can still get out.

Move to a place where most "police calls" are to generate reports of deer-vehicle accidents for the insurance company.

It is happening as we speak . I am a great lover and respecter of femininity but I also believe that a cops job is much too demanding of the type of strength and guts it takes to be a good leo professional for 99% of women . The young lady got tried and was found wanting in the face of death . That is a mans world . Call me old fashioned or misogynist if you want but Gawd made the gals different . There are so many things they can do that us guys can't and if we understand that we will be better off I believe . My wife has always been able to out shoot me but get out my Desert Eagle and she's heading back to the house . Put a .22 or 9mm in her hand and she'll shoot a perps eye out asking left or right eye Ha!Ha!Ha! Good cops are being prosecuted for doing what they were hired to do as will be good soldiers in our now transgender friendly military forces . America is in trouble .

What happens? Anarchy, local "warlords" and their flunkies run their area, etc

I believe there's a saying:

"Fools rush in, where angels will not tread."

It was the same during my career (39 years at Dept of about 500), the good ones didn't do it for money and the bad ones didn't last. When I started we had 2000-3000 applicants for 25-30 openings each year. Now, the same Department often has unfilled positions in each recruit school. This leads to lower standards and more problems.
I retired four years ago and think God got me out just in time.
I regularly see armchair commenters talk trash about all cops. I wonder how they will feel when they don't have the option of letting the police "handle it."

This is exactly what the left wants.
Because with the good cops gone, police don't disappear.
They get replaced with bad cops drawn from a pool of applicants that does not value what the good cops value.

Even little towns around Longview in East Texas are making the news. Everything is going downhill, we are screwed

I think we are beginning to see the REAL meaning of personal responsibility for one's own defense.

"Shoot, shovel, and shut up" may take on new meaning.....

“ Every day may be the day that your career is over and you go to jail.”

From my angle at things it really depends on how much of a mistake we are talking about. There are forgivable mistakes and unforgivable mistakes. Bumping a squad car into something is a forgivable mistake. Being rude is a forgivable mistake. On the other hand we have unforgivable mistakes like abusing a cuffed prisoner or at the ultimate extreme killing someone without a really good reason.

it's what the left wants...with record number of officers quitting and retiring in the left run cities because they aren't allowed to do their jobs...the fear of being "cancelled" for doing their job...otard wanted to federalize the police...they have antifa and blm doing the dirty work to get these guys to quit and retire, doj steps in and offers fed officers...next thing you know it's all federalized...you think policing sucks now, wait until the feds run it all...
