Spiro Agnew was the running mate for Richard Nixon and became the vice president of the United States. His experience may be instructive to the current political situation.
Joe Biden's poll numbers are in the doldrums, and his VP, Kamala Harris isn't helping things one bit. Her poll numbers are even lower than Biden's and many speculate that a Harris presidency would be an even more spectacular failure than Biden's (if indeed, that is possible). A Harris presidency does not seem to be in the books, failing a medical crisis in Biden's health.
When VP Agnew became embroiled in legal problems in 1973, he eventually pleaded no contest to charges of tax evasion and resigned his office "in the best interests of the nation". Nixon accepted his resignation and appointed Gerald Ford to fill the remaining term. Nixon eventually resigned and Ford served the remainder of Nixon's term as President. This provides the framework for an orderly transition of power when the president cannot fill the entire term, and the person holding the vice presidency is completely unsuited to ascend to the office.
With Joe's mental facilities deteriorating, and the specter of a Harris presidency horrifying everyone in the country, it is instructive to look at the Agnew experience.
I am certainly not a political strategist, and no conspiracy theorists, but I acknowledge that history ofen rhymes. I am left wondering how the puppet-masters will handle the situation after the midterms, and some possibilities intrigue me.

You must remember that Ford was Speaker of the House...Pelosi is not competent enough to wipe her own nose, much less...

Biden resigns, health, competency, corruption, take your pick. Harris assumes Presidency, thus fulfilling Democratic dream, first female President. She appoints Barack Obama as Vice President, then is removed by 25th Amendment. Interesting times!
Biden resignation would make Obama the 3rd worst president and move Jimmah Cartah off the awards stand.
In my dream thhe Supreme Court wakes up from wokeness and remembers that Harris is not a natural born citizen, merely an anchor baby, and declares her ineligible to be president or to continue to hold the office of vice president. And in that ruling they declare that "natural born" means exactly what it meant back in the 1780s: a person born in this country to parents who were already citizens at the time of her birth. Of course, "country" would be slightly modernized to include ambassadorial residences/compounds in other nations, our military bases in other countries, permanent possessions of the USA where the people there are also citizens of the USA (Guam, Puerto Rico, etc), or if the birth occurred on a US military vessel at sea or up in the air. The court will turn a blind eye to the Obama presidency, because that's water under the bridge.
So Biden's handlers will have to choose someone. I don't think Pelosi automatically gets the job. And once you get a qualified normal person in the VP slot, Slow Joe can have one more seizure and go gently into that good night.
So the question really is, is there an actual Democrat in DC who is not a commie or a pedo or owned by China or on the take?
