Outage

It seems that the big news this morning is that major cell phone companies are experiencing  outages this morning.  It seems that AT&T is the central hub of the outage.

Cyber attack?  Or did someone just trip over an extension cord?

I have no idea if my phone is working, simply because I don't live my life plugged in to the phone screen.  I did get my daily devotional text this morning, so texting work.

Same over here in Central Texas, PawPaw. Interesting isn't it?
Especially after reading Borepatch's last two posts

I don't understand why most people assume that because I have a cell phone I have it with/on me all the time. I am about as tied to it as I was to the old wired landline. Difference is that I knew where the landline was; I often don't know where the cell phone is. AND, I am no more obligated to rush to it to answer the ringing little thing than I was to answer to landline. The phone is for MY convenience. I pay the bill. All others are at my decision.

I've heard that a major sun event may have thrown out some damaging sun rays that could effect electronics. This sort of makes sense as the outages appear to be widely scattered among several telephone companies.

Or a cyber attack being swept under the rug. Take your pick.

At the moment I'm in a hotel; they had trouble with the card reader when I checked in - they claimed it was affected by a solar flare this week.

Not sure if I believe it, or if it's just a sign of our system falling apart...
