Shortages Continue

 Belle and I have noticed that there seems to be a shortage of bagged cat food.  Last week, the Dollar store had very little, as did Wally-world.  Really?

An hour ago, I was at the grocers and they had no instant mashed potatoes.  Don't feel sorry for me, I know how to make mashed potatoes, and there were plenty of spuds in the produce aisle.  But, instant mashed potatoes can be used for lots of things, and I try to keep a box handy.

It seems like for the past two years we've been dealing with localized product shortages of one kind or another.  We can blame it on a lot of things, but over the past two years, the one constant has been Joe Biden and his lackluster cabinet officials.  These are Joe's shortages.

For lunch today, I intend to serve smothered hamburger patties with mashed potatoes.  So, it's time to peel some spuds.  If you will excuse me.

Pretty much all of the grocery stores in the Houston area are habitually/constantly out of chocolate milk. More or less every store every day. When they do " stock up" they get a shipment in they get maybe 2-5 gallons and at most 3-6 half gallons.( Need to be there at the right time.) Often that is all they get for the week. WHats up with that? They almost always have plenty of white cows milk, ( 1%, 2% etc) plus almond "milk". Yet not chocolate. It has been that way for over a year now.

( We have a special needs child who wants chocolate milk and don't try to mix it yourself...it just isn't the same.)

I know my local HEB continues to have recurring shortages of certain things. The one that I notice most is pasta, specifically fettucini and rotini. (That's just what I buy. May be other types). And it's always the store brand, not the name brand stuff. Which does make me suspicious that it's all the same, but they make more money on the name brand stuff.

Instant mashed spuds are another one. Again, store brand. Got plenty of name brand.

And I'm still puzzled why beef flavor Rice-a-Roni disappeared almost 3 years ago during the lockdowns and hasn't returned.

the shortages i'm seeing now are random and out of nowhere...doesn't appear to be a reason why...during the second year of covid, pet food was short but then bounced back...

Another thing that there is a shortage of is cough drops and nasal sprays. Odd, that...

@dave

pasta has been a hit or miss, at my wally world anyway, for almost 3 years now...every time they had a 2lb box of spaghetti on the shelf, i was scooping it up...and it wasn't often...
