In this PC era, though, it seems that it's not enough to celebrate love. Some students actually signed a petition to ban it as offensive:

Pshaw, I am single and it’s a little depressing. Still the idea that a tradition many people enjoy should be changed to protect my feelings never occurred to me. People are silly these days.
