Barry

The big news this morning is Tropical Storm Barry.  Louisiana is firmly in the bullseye, and we are sure we are going to be affected, but we're not sure just exactly how it is going to play out.

Is it going to go more east, or more west?  Generally, if you are on the west side of the storm, you're in better shape than if you're on the east side of the storm.  It's a matter of degree, but sometimes those degrees matter.

We'll be okay, here in central Louisiana.  Yeah some tress will blow over, and some folks my lose shingles, and there will be some property damage, but that's part of the joy of living here.  Other folks have to worry about other natural disasters, we worry about hurricanes.

It's going to be okay, just a huge pain the butt.

Incorrect. In the northern hemisphere the 'dangerous semi-circle' of a storm is to the east, or more specifically, the northeast. And, it is more than a few degrees; depending upon geography, the strength of the storm, and other things, you could survive the storm passage completely unscathed while your neighbor down the road has suffered severe damage. On the waters it is even more a contrast. Y'all be safe there. We've been praying for the whole region.

The big problem y'all have is the Missisip. The river has already been at flood stage and is still now. And now they've been closing locks. Now, this disturbance is bringing in rain and surge. Prepare to be boarded. Prepare for the waters rising up. Pray for the divine hand of Providence.
