The White House said Miers had withdrawn her name because of a bipartisan effort in Congress to gain access to internal documents related to her role as counsel to the president. But politics played a larger role: Bush's conservative backers had doubts about her ideological purity, and Democrats had little incentive to help the nominee or the embattled GOP president.Suddenly this is a big news week. It is about damned time. I had nothing against the lady personally, but I don't think she would have made a good justice.
One would wonder what name will be floated next?
Of course, the liberals (excuse me.. progressives) are waiting for Fitzgerald to return indictments on Libby, Rove and Dick Cheney, so the President will have a lot of appointing to do. It is all part of a right wing conspiracy, and you have to be on a super-secret mailing list to know the agenda.
