I've got to brag on the US Postal Service. When I order something and they tell me it's coming via USPS, I generally groan, but here lately they are stepping up their game. The last three or four orders have gotten here early.
For example, I ordered some wax bullets from the CFDA. I got a shipping notice telling me that they'd be here Friday, and when I got home I found them on the doorstep a full day early, on Thursday. We shoot a lot of wax bullets and when I get down to the last 500, I re-order. They can put 4000 wax bullets in a medium flat rate box.
If you've ever wondered what 4000 wax bullets looks like, they're bulk packed.
I repack them into zipper storage bags, and I can get 500 into a quart-size bag, which is handy when I'm taking inventory. The quart bags fit very nicely into the shooting bag, also.
Someone asked earlier this week about The Dawg. I've been remiss in posting a Sunday Dawg, but he's doing fine. He's achieved senior status. He's going a little bit blind, and he's slowing down some, but otherwise he's okay.
I took that picture this afternoon while he was exploring something on the other side of the pool.
Speaking of livestock, I thought we had lost a cat today. I saw this pose while I was snapping the Dawg, and thought the cat had died.
Eyes half-open, distressed pose, I went over an nudged him with my foot. Asleep. The cat was simply asleep. I thought someone had kilt him, and he barely made it over the fence before he expired. No, just napping. He's about worthless, although he is a pretty good mouser. As long as he keeps the mice nervous, he can hang around here.

That Autistic Cat
We've got a cat that Milady has decided is autistic. Milady has long experience as a registered nurse in the field of developmental disability and she thinks it's karma that her animals have developmental disabilities. She's convinced that the dawg is mildly retarded, and the cat is autistic. The cat doesn't like human contact, preferring to hide under the deck when strangers are about, and only comes out when Milady and I are around. Of course, she's been "fixed", so there is no danger of kittens.
The cat likes to drink out of the pool. I managed to snap a photo of her earlier this week.
That's the end of the pool where the fresh water flows from the pump, and cats like flowing water, so that's where she drinks. After I snapped this photo, she did her trick to get her fresh water.
If someone bumped her in the butt, that would be a terrible tragedy, but she won't let anyone et that close to her. She's a strange cat, but we like having her around. She keeps the mice nervous.

Cat Blogging
Milady and I are on the road this morning on a escape weekend, so I'm giving you a video I took last week of the cats playing on the patio.
Enjoy. We'll be back next week.

Monday Cat-Blogging
Busy this morning, but I've done what I intended to do, and now I'll find a cool, shady spot to siesta for the afternoon. It's hot out there, about 90F with 70% humidity. The air is like walking into a wet wool blanket. The cats are likewise seeking a shady spot, someplace where they might catch a breeze.
This one has crashed on top of the carpeted cat-house and is sound asleep. Not a bad idea for a hot, humid Monday afternoon. I'll take care of a few little details when the afternoon heat moderates, but for now I'm going to be inside under the air conditioner.

Neutered Cat
The little cat that adopted us went to the vet's today for neutering. It's one thing to be adopted by a cat, it's something else entirely to find a litter of kittens living under your deck. My daughter-in-law works at the vet office and got us a deal on a neutering job, and I'm very grateful for that. The cat's a little groggy, so we'll leave it in the carrier until Milady gets home in another hour.
The cat is in no particular distress, but I bet that it is no mood to play, and Beau is worried sick about his cat.
They've become fast friends, and Beau can't figure out why that cat won't come out and play. He's going to worry himself (and pester me) until Milady gets home to release the cat.
