SCOTUS Allows Military Transgender Ban

I see that in a 5-4 decision, the Supremes have decided to lift the injunction that allowed transgenders into the military.  This is the correct decision.  It should have been 9-0.  Evidently four members of the court have no idea what the military does, or what it is intended to do.
Justices Ruther Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan would have denied the request for a stay.
What those four don't understand is that the military is not an equal opportunity employer.  The military has standards.  Can't pass the PT Test?  You're gone.  Can't deploy?  Sorry.  Get too old to do the job? (Yeah, it's called the MRD, or mandatory removal date.)   The military has a whole litany of things that might exclude someone from serving.  Too bad, so sad.  Eventually, the military tells everyone to go home.

The military is too important for touchy-feely social projects.

You brain is unable to accept physical reality and is quite unstable, requiring continuous large scale medical/pharmaceutical intervention to keep you functional?

Bye.

Exactly. it is At LEAST the same as not allowing diabetics to serve because they would be impaired if their needed drugs were not available. I say it is worse because of how a transitioned or transitioning person would affect unit cohesion and comraderie - and that would lead directly to unnecessary deaths on the battlefield.

The physical issues aside, the serious psychological problems of most transgender people are well known in the mental health profession.

The purpose of the military is to be prepared to "kill people and break things", in the immortal words of Rush Limbaugh. It is not a sexual identity or gender politics social experiment.

Equal opportunity is the mil.com should be just that: equal opportunity. That has nothing to do with equality of outcome.

It's really quite simple. Set the physical and mental standards for a particular job/MOS. Whoever passes the tests/qualifications, earns the title. Those that fail, simply fail and move on to something that they can succeed at doing.

Random comment off the left field wall.....I work in an ER right down the street form Fort Hood......We have had quite a few military folks entering our facility claiming suicidal thoughts. I have to interact with the military behavioral unit; while these folks are with us. I mentioned to them (jokingly) about the full moon maybe being the culprit for all the cray, cray.
I got a silence that was deafening....they stated, "no, there is a unit that is deploying at the end of the month".
Seems to me that a person joins the military to see the world; and when offered the chance.......
