More Bullshit

This idiot in North Carolina wants to institute ID Checks for buying ammunition. You know, bullets. I kid you not.
Community organizer for the local NC ACORN group, The Rev. Melvin Whitley, says it's too easy for criminals to buy ammo, and he plans to close that loophole. ACORN'S initiative would expand the law to include ammunition, and may even include a requirement for bullet permits. "The problem with the law is that it allows criminals to have access to bullets. And it's the bullets that's killing us," according to Whitley.
Except, Reverend Whitley, as I understand Federal law, it's already against the law for a felon to possess ammunition.

Understand that. It's already against the law for a felon to possess ammunition, ergo, every felon who possesses ammo is in violation of federal law. They don't pay attention to the law as it's written, why would they care about your new law?

No, this is just another attempt to further erode the rights of law-abiding Americans. It's also a good way for the good Reverend to get his name in the paper and further the political agenda of his puppet-masters.

If you really want to do some good, Reverend, insist that your local US Attorney prosecute and convict all felons who are found in possession of ammunition. But that would entail actually locking up felons. The good Rev doesn't want that. He wants to make life harder for the rest of us.

I think that the Reverend is a jack-boot fascist, trying to trample my rights. If he's involved with ACORN, then he's probably involved in vote fraud too.

How many are old enough to recall Pat Paulson's comedy skits on the Smothers Brothers show where he ran a faux campaign for president on the proposal of bullet control?

He said "Guns don't kill people, bullets kill people."

It was such a stupid and wildly crazy proposal, yet so much like something a typical airheaded politician would actually propose, that he got a lot of mileage out of the skit.

Who could know we would sink so low that escapees from the looney bin, some even holding public office, would actually make the same proposal and mean it?

Welcome to the fascist state of Ill Annoy, where you have to have the little state authorization to exercise your 'constitutionally protected" civil rights card to so much as touch ammo or firearm.

Buy ammo at wally world? The register beeps as each box is scanned "check FOID". And only an associate with an FOID can sell (or stock or handle) the ammo because without the state's blessing, its a crime to do so.

Back in 1986 or 87, I was out in Lufkin TX, and a friend wanted to go shooting. We went to some gun shop, and I bought a box of 9mm ammo. Instead of a receipt, the clerk handed me a clipboard with a form asking for my name, address, phone, etc. and the number of rounds & caliber of the ammo. There were probably 15-20 names already on the list, and there was a big stack of forms there, so they'd been keeping records for a while.

Never seen such a thing before or since in Texas. To this day I have no idea why I was asked for that info, or whether it was a local or county ordinance.

Been that way in New Jersey for awhile too. Have to show your firearms ID card to buy any ammo that is considered Pistol ammunition. This includes .22's. Also they keep a record of any hollowpoint ammo of any kind. JimB

We've had that in Canada for years now since they instituted that wonderful multi million (that turned in billion) dollar Gun Registry Program that still doesn't have but maybe 55% of the gun owners on it...Had I not been traveling so much with guns to various meets I'd never have registered as I had enough ammo to last me and mine for years to come...The damn thing is even needed to buy reloading supplies like powder, primer and bullets.

I’m a felon as I’ve bought some ammo for friends who don’t have their FACs sort of like the “Straw” buys the BATF(u)E complain about. I wonder if they realize, that in some cases, the guy is buying those guns for resale BUT in his own store because the prices are cheaper then his distributor gives him due to his low volume.

The expression “A Bullet With My Name On It” will in short time be real if these hoplophobic assholes have their way.
