Hydraulics

Replacing seals in a hydraulic cylinder.  It keeps the track hoe working.

You never know what you're going to run into in a good garage.

The cylinders on the85 model Ford 545 have an Oring seal between the ram and cylinder body. The guy I got them from, Thankfully, told me to drop them in boiling water. How it's possible to make something that small of a cross sectional diameter that doesn't just break under the stretching required to go on is something I don't understand. It took a long time and many attempts, but without his Clue,I would never have won. That it was winter and the shop and metal were Cold didn't help.
Any pitting in the chrome needs addressed. If fingertips can feel a sharp spot, thousand grit to smooth that out and jb weld to minimize the pitting made mine work without bleeding off for around twelve years. The front bucket still drops, slowly, but I'm thinking that is tired valves. No more hydraulic oil dripping.

A diamond fingernail file is also good for smoothing anything standing proud, as in a point of Chrome.

Fun stuff,, ohh yeah
