Skunked

I've been skunked thus far this season, hunting on the family land.  The deer just aren't there, which is odd, because deer have always been in that area.  That area is well-known locally for having deer.  I don't know what has changed, but I'm not even getting pictures on my camera, indeed, the lens tripped only once this week and I'm not sure what tripped it.

That's all that was on the camera this week, which is truly odd.  I'm not sure where the deer are, but they're certainly not on my little hunting area.

Strange to say the least... SW Arkansas has them coming out their ears! And BIG!!! Record crop of both acorns and pecans up that way...

Da Missus and I drove by the public recreation area I like to hunt on the banks of the Skagit River 45 or so miles N of us today. There wwere deer everywhere! I've never seen the like of it. In the morning I'm gonna get my hunting license and a deer tag and drive my camper van back up there. Of course the deer will all have become shadows by tomorrow afternoon.

You have likely forgot more than I'll ever know about deer hunting, but one thing I've observed is that an abundance of "groceries" (acorns and pecan and such) may make the deer stay deep in cover, not visit feeders. Have you seen that?
No hogs is maybe another thing, however..
