I see that the old canard of the "ghost gun" has risen in the wake of the United Healthcare CEO shooting.. A suspect was arrested in Altoona PA, and the NYPDd says that the murder weapon may have been printed on a 3D printer. No kidding.
The suspect in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson may have used a so-called "ghost gun" he made from a 3D printer, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said.
Wow! Ghost guns and 3D printers in the same sentence. That is double-scary. While the NYPD is patting itself on its back for catching this guy, I would remind then that the true detective in this tragedy of errors is an anonymous McDonalds employee who recognized the killer and called the police.
Ghost guns, 3D printers and McDonalds. Someone call Sherlock Holmes.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN ILLEGAL GUN. "GHOST GUNS" ARE SIMPLY NONE OF THE GOVERNMENT'S BUSINESS.
That is all nothing more than a construct of anti-gun hoplophobes.
I have many that qualify as "ghost guns," none of them were 3D printed, and some even have serial numbers, but those numbers are meaningless. They might only be traced to someone that is long dead, but certainly not me. So what is the point?
In Kommiecticut, all handgun sales (including private cash sales) are state authorized since the early 2000's, and since 2014 the same applies for long guns. Private cash sales still occur.... know your buyer, know your seller... without state knowledge. I requested my state firearms list recently and found it to be quite inaccurate, even several guns purchased at licensed dealers are missing. Of course, they encourage you to add the missing ones... YEAH, RIGHT!

I bet this ghost gun used a commercially available pistol barrel. Police say it was a 9mm, which could be one of many pistol cartridges but I’ll assume it was a Parabellum. That’s a high pressure round and I doubt that slightly sintered powdered metal could hold up to that even once.

Ok, unsurprisingly the shooters gun is a Glock knock off put together with a parts kit and "printed" frame or even an 80% frame. Where he got the slide, barrel etc. would be useful in prosecution. The 3-D printed suppressor is the item I'm least aware of insofar as its viability or build. This was a lot of complicated effort to murder a man, and it was just that...a murder.
So, he violated the law twice... sigh
The frame is the only thing that matters . All the rest are just parts. I don’t know if suppressors still require the federal tax stamp, but im certain NYC doesn’t allow them either. But you can expect the media to run wild with the ghost nonsense.
