I was surprised to learn that Winchester had two iconic lever guns adopted by foreign powers for use during that war. And no, I'm not talking about the Russians
Britain adopted the Winchester 1892 for naval duty.
France adopted the Winchester 1894 for rear-echelon duty.
Amazing. And fascinating.
