What she's actually done is told the unruly children to go home.
Mayor Jenny Durkan said at a news conference that the violence was distracting from changes sought by thousands of peaceful protesters seeking to address racial inequity and police brutality. She said the city is working with the community to bring the “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest” zone to an end.She has't offered a timeline, which is tactically sound. There is no use letting an adversary know when you're coming. Which begs another question. How is she going to re-assert control? I know how I would do it, but I wouldn't have let it go this far.
This may be interesting to watch.

I wouldn't have let it get much beyond the first brick thrown. You can express your opinion all day long just don't tear up other people's stuff. The Constitution and English Common Law allows all kinds of legal ways to exact change. But you have to be an thinking adult and that's not what we have in a big chunk of society these days. What we have are a bunch of over-sized, over-indulged three-year-olds.
I think she will be serving milk and cookies and offering gift bags to those who choose to leave voluntarily. "Distracting"???? Quite an understatement and a whole lotta missing the point, Mayor.
