With Louisiana State 10 weeks away, it's time to get hot and heavy on trophies. We're building our own, from cypress that has been bologna-cut to show grain and bark. We got them from the sawmil this week and this morning we gave them preliminary sanding, to remove saw-marks. Now, they're drying on a wire shelving unit.
I have them stacked for maximum airflow, and hopefully they'll lose some of the moisture they're carrying so that next Saturday we can appy a coat of poly and start sorting them.

A friend of mine ran a small sawmill operation as a soide job; sawed boards were stacked on sticker separators inside a short shipping container with a couple home dehumidifiers running inside with drains out the sides. he said it got the moisture content down to standard levels (whatever that is) in 2-3 weeks in the summertime. Maybe a plywood box or similar might dry those cypress slabs pretty fast in Louisiana's warmer clime. I'd wrap the circumference tight with a loop of rebar wire to hopefully prevent radial splitting/cracking. Just guessing,YMMV.
I'm interested to see what the final 'design' is!
