I've been standing on a 20 acre aircraft ramp in upper 90 degree temps for the past six hours. Plenty of water, but damned little shade. We were practicing offensive driving, which is plenty different from defensive driving. Pursuit driving, high speed cornering, braking reaction, and steering reaction.
It was good training, very good training, but damn, it was hot on that pavement. Now, I am officially finished with this year's retraining.
PawPaw's going to be looking for someplace cool the rest of the afternoon.

Sounds like it's Samuel Adams time......
I'll bet those POST instructors know where the coolest place is: you get that way when your specialty is office patrol.
I can't speak for everywhere, Rivrdog, but out instructors teach as part of a larger duty position. They're in something called Support Services and they do things like Water Patrol, SWAT, Haz-Mat, and all manner of specialized tasks. They were right out there with us during the training and generally teach by example. I don't have a problem with most of our instructors. They're the real deal.
