Running Errands

While running errands today, Belle and I went by the early polling site and voted for the November 8 primary.  Here in Pineville, the early voting site is Kees Park, at the community center.  It's convenient, it is easy, and I feel like it is secure.  It takes about 10 minutes from the time you lock your car until you get back in to drive away. Voting was brisk this morning, but there were no lines.  Just walk in, identify yourself and go vote.

Louisiana is an ID Card state, and has been for the past several decades.  It is neither an issue nor a hindrance.  We are quite baffled as to why other states haven't adopted the practice.

Early voted last week. Quite a few people in line, but the poll workers were very efficient and the folks in line knew what to have with them. Took about 15 minutes from parking to leaving. There was an interesting event happen while we were there. One of the voting machines filled up with the paper ballots. The Guy in Charge stopped everything, asked for quiet and explained that they would be taking that machine off line and replacing it with another (empty) one and anybody that was interested in "viewing" the process was welcome to accompany them. A few people volunteered. I knew a couple personally, good folks. I was reassured. And feeling a bit more confident in the future.

Voted this morning. There was a line, and according to the machine, over 1700 folks have been through the early voting at that site. :-)

@juvat: Now THAT is a poll worker, and supervisor, who might make the process look good after all. Hard not to have confidence in that location.

Because its harder to cheat if everyone has to show ID?
Seriously, there were counties in the 2020 election that recorded, officially recorded, 115% of registered voters in their district. This was the registered official tally, signed by election officials.
Why vote again?

My wife and I voted last Friday. Like your state, Texas requires picture I.D. validation. The voting protocol was a bit different - each machine recorded your votes and printed it. Then that sheet was taken to the machine which recorded the ballot. Ours did have a short line, but not a bother.

Anonymous at 5:15 - why don't you want us to vote? Perhaps you are a bot?
