I'll say. I learned many of my language skills while helping my Dad work on the family car. Those skills were sharpened during my years working in the motor pool on tanks.
Two language-related enlightenments for me involve the number of foreign language words I know without realizing it after many years in other countires courtesy of the military, many of them not for mixed company; and thse words learned from job performance, not limited to soldering irons, corrosives, and tools and other hard objects.

I'm not sure my language skills have improved with my use of tools, but I am sure that the language I use has broadened considerably with tool usage.
