Pink Studs and Shop Update

Today, while I was at Homey Depot, looking for stuff, I stopped i the lubber aisle.

They're awash in these darned tings.  But, someone asked to see the specs, so I took a picture of the scanning tab on the end of the boards.

Now, you know as much about them as I do.  They were made by Georgia-Pacific in Pineland,  TX.

Back at the shop, the work continued.  Grandson Zachary learned to crimp PEX, and pull Rome.  We have the wring roughed-in and the fresh water roughed in, and I'm almost ready to start installing drywall.

This thing is on schedule.  I have a drop-dead date of July 14, when we celebrate the birthday of Belle's mother, who will b 97 years old.

I"m starting to feel good about the completion of this project.

Up here in Maine we get plenty of Georgia-Pacific lumber, but it all comes out of Quebec and none of it is pink. So I can only conclude that the Canadian froggies don't like their lumber painted pink while their cousins down south do. I think those Acadians must have gotten a bit confused on the way south all those years ago. LOL

Temple-Inland, from East Texas, painted their interior studs with a waterproof magenta (which ended up looking pink) paint as a marketing ploy. G-P bought out T-I, so it looks like the plant in east TX is still doing the paint dip.

Always wondered why they didn't use treated, or at least waterproofed, lumber for interior, other than being cheap bastiges, of course.

And looking over at G-P's website, well, yes, they are continuing the tradition. https://www.buildgp.com/southern-pine-log-studs

So it's not about the boobies. And it's supposed to be purple, not pink. Weird. Oh, well, you learn a new thing every day.

Interesting information Beans. Up here in Maine our lumber is all KD Spruce (Kiln Dried Eastern White Spruce). We only see Southern Yellow Pine occasionally in the pressure treated lumber.
