I just finished my annual income tax preparation. Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm a lot later than usual. I normally do them in February, but Milady was in the hospital in February and it threw my whole schedule off.
At any rate, they're done. Legally. Properly. On time. Electronically.
Married filing jointly, no dependents, and very few deductions. We're both making a good living and the IRS loves us. They think we're grand. The great American middle class, supporting the rest of the layabout population.
I paid more tax this year than I made some years. There's a worthless sumbitch somewhere and I'm supporting his sorry butt. He needs to get up off his butt and find a job.

At least if you feed an orphan in some third-world cess pit, you get a photo and a letter once a year.
Why should he get a job? He has one. Its to vote for politicians who will take money from the "winners of life's lottery" (aka you and everyone who manages to earn the means to make a good life for themselves and their families while screaming that they're only after "the rich") to make up for the corruption, greed, and/or racism that are doubtless the reason for his not already having the same things, the same lifestyle you have.
I am amazed at the chutzpah of the powers that be when they tell me that they are cutting my taxes. I am a retired soldier (enlisted) and my wife is a teacher (and not from one of those highly paid districts) and we don't have a huge income. We still pay more in income tax each year. Yes, the kids are gone and the house paid off. In our rush to do right we get to do more for those who do little or nothing.
What really galls me, at the moment, is that I get to pay these taxes to give my congress critters wonderful health care and they are talking about taking mine away. And let me tell you, Tricare isn't "all that" either.
I'd be willing to bet that the farmers in Rapides and Natchitoches Parishes get more welfare than all the "worthless sumbitch"-es in those parishes put together.
Do you really want letters from the people you're supporting with your taxes? Pictures... no way.
If you want a picture just go to WalMart and take it yourself. I was there yesterday and the young lady in front of me who I would guess weighted about 425 lbs on the hoof bought two bags of potato chips and a cake. Yep, payed for it with a (food stamps) Louisiana Purchase card. Go figure.....
