I am reminded that 80 years ago today, the western Allies launched Operation Overlord and hundreds of thousands of soldiers, sailors and airmen launched the largest amphibious assault in history to wrest Europe from the grip of the Nazis.
It is stunning to realize that the 18-year-old private who waded from the surf and was lucky enough to make it to seawall would be 98-years-old today.
I am in awe of such men.
