A buddy and I were talking today, and something was said, and he asked me, "When was that?"
I replied without thinking, "It was the dark of the moon on the 6th o June, in a Kenworth, hauling logs."
He looked at e like I had lost my mind, so I continued. "Cabover Pete had a reefer on, in a Jimmy, hauling hogs."
Then I realized that he hadn't been born when that song was written.
It's amazing what culture will do for you. Original here.

Ever hear of Mannheim Steamroller? Chip Davis, who co-wrote Convoy, used the money from this song to play the music he really wanted to, and founded Mannheim Steamroller.
This is funny. I had "Eastbound and Down" pop into my brain for no good reason this morning and, of course, had to listen to a few renditions by Jerry Reed. :)
