I have to say this every couple of years, and now it's time.
If you look at the post below, you will notice that I deleted a comment where the commenter thought profanity was the best way to express thoughts.
I encourage comments. I enjoy comments. But, this is my blog and I don't have to tolerate poor behavior. Just as I've thrown people our of my physical home,for poor behavior, I'll not tolerate rudeness.
It's hard to insult me. After 37 years in police work, I've been called every name in the book. I know that I'm old, decrepit, and a fat man. That is not news and does not contribute to the conversation, but I don't consider that a reason to eject someone. When I see rudeness or profanity I click the garbage can icon and send the comment to the trash pile.
There a people here who have been commenting since this blog began, back in 2005. Many have disagreed. I"ve learned a lot from those folks. But, in this little corner of the internet, I'm the boss.

I like the quote I heard once "Use of expletives shows a lack of imagination". Feelings and thoughts CAN be expressed without cursing, some people just can't be bothered to try...
Concur, but I am a sailor, so I do slip on occasion... sigh
Everything has its time and its place, and profanity is no different. For example, there's the fact that if Biden prevails, the first thing he'll do is ban fracking, which will destroy our energy independence. The only reason we've been able to stay out of the Middle East's incessant wars for the past few years was that we didn't need their oil anymore. Banning fracking will suck us back into their interminable wars, and more of our kids will die for a Green New Deal fantasy. That merits a big string of words I can't use here, directed at our political class.

It would be educational, and interesting. It reminds me of the time at work when a co-worker told a dirty joke at lunchtime in the break room. I was not there so I don't know what the joke was, or how it offended someone. But management heard about it and issued orders that no dirty words or swear words would be tolerated, even on break time and even in the break room or anywhere in the business. I asked them to post a list of banned words. They fired me a couple of weeks later on a made-up charge but I heard it was because I requested the list of words we could not say. They sure showed me !
