Back in the early '70s, Brother-in-law Bill was dating a gal from Quebec. Yeah, that Quebec. She and Bill were visiting in Jena, LA and stopped to get gas.
A fellow noticed the license plate on the car and asked Bill, "Kew-beck? Where is Kew-beck?"
Bill deadpanned. "Up north of Monroe."
The fellow nodded his head and went about his business. Bill was right, of course. Quebec is north of Monroe.
Yep, just a 'bit'... LOL
ReplyDeleteSo I grew up just outside Buffalo, NY. We called it "Western NY", because it was on the western end of the state. Syracuse area marked "Central NY" state, and anything above Albany was "Upstate". Everywhere you go in NY, this is accepted fact.
ReplyDeleteI go to college in central NY, meet a bunch of people from NYFC. Turns out anything passed the Tapan-zee bridge is "Upstate".
Who knew.
Accurate but not specific 🤣
