There is an interesting discussion on the Fast Draw Facebook page. It seems that some of the newer shooters have discovered someone named Elmer Keith. Heh!
I've been reading Elmer Keith since the 1960s. His expertise on big-bore handguns was legendary. The fact that he was able to simultaneously talk Remington and Smith and Wesson into building the .44 Magnum is one of the coolest tales ever told.
There is a great link here about how he pulled it off.
When he was young he said he could draw and shoot his pistol in a quarter second or a little over. Quoted from his autobiography Hell I was there.
ReplyDeleteI grew up reading Keith. Loved his stories and writings. He passed away the year after I became a cop.
