Griner Sentenced

WNBA star Britney Griner has been sentenced in a Russian court to 9 years in prison for drug possession.

Honestly, I don't follow basketball.  I could not tell you who the leading NBA players are.  I just don't care.  Likewise, I had never heard of Britney Griner until recently.  What I have learned about her is not flattering. She is big on the social justice circuit, didn't want to play in an arena where the American flag was present.

I heard that when se was arrested in Russia, she complained that no one read her her tights.  Ha!  Had she paid attention in high school civics, she might have earned that she had it good in the US.

I hope that the State Department is able to get her out.  I don't want to see any US citizen in a Russian jail.

  1. Yeah, and the race card and LGBT cards didn't fly with the Russians either.

  3. Seems she is in jail for breaking a law.....unlike U.S. citizens jailed in Washington DC.

  4. It depends on whether or not the state she was raised in requires a high school civics class with a passing grade to graduate AND whether or not the teacher was there to teach said subject or was parked there because he/she was a coach.

At 31, how clueless can you be? Don't answer that! I have a SIL that if the Good Lord and my brother weren't looking out for her...Edith Bunker was more on the ball.

Negotiate for Griner's release after the J6 hostages in DC are released. Otherwise, no sympathy.

  6. Unfortunately, this is yet another example of the "Ugly American" who thinks they can do whatever they want to overseas (often because they get away with it).

Its almost funny that U.S. Government demands for Griners release from conviction while the U.S. supplies arms for Ukraine to fight Russia. Exactly what favor does our government expect ?

I feel bad for Griner and her family, but if you choose to take illegal substances / objects into a foreign country whose possesson is against their laws, you had it coming to you. No entitlements in other countries - she forgot that apparentlly.
