Lessons Learned

What's the take-away from the past 48 hours?  That there is a huge double-standard in the media and the Democrat Party, and more likely, in the swamp-dwellers in Washington DC.   For four years they have either ignored or tacitly approved of political violence across the streets of America.  Portland, Seattle, Kenosha, Minneapolis, Atlanta, just to name a few.

In every event, they defended the violence as "mostly peaceful" when the rioters destroyed property, injured or killed police officers, held cities hostage.  Starting with the riots in Washington DC on the evening of Trump's inauguration, it continued right through nearly the entire four years.  The media, in large part, either ignored or were apologists for the "mostly peaceful" rioters.

Two days ago, in Washington, a peaceful protest turned into something else, and Trump supporters held a mostly peaceful occupation of the Capitol building.  Now, we're hearing full-throat ed condemnation, from the political class and the drive-by media.  This seems, to me, to be just a bit hypocritical.

You can't have it both ways.

I do note that many of President Trump's aides and political appointees are resigning in apparent condemnation of the crowd's actions.  That seems a bit hollow to me.  In two weeks, they'd all be out of a job anyway.

But, what really galls me is the coverage.  For four years, rioting was covered a viable political expression.  Then, suddenly, on Wednesday past, it became a absolute threat to the American way of life.and totally unacceptable in the political sphere.
