How Fast It Happens

A Michigan deputy pulls over a guy suspected of stabbing an old man in a convenience store.  Nice neighborhood.  Then it all goes sideways really fast.

Notice at about the 0:35 second mark, her weapon jams and she is able to clear it and continue to defend.  Notice also how she backs away, trading space for time.  Her assailant continues to attack until he finally goes down.  When he bends over, he's trying to pic up the dropped knife.

I don't know how many times she hit him, but she only stopped shooting when he assumed the universal "don't shoot" position when he became horizontal.

Do we have a date/time/place for this?

And the video looks a little.....odd. I'm not seeing bullet strikes.....maybe it's the poor camera quality.

  2. The assailant stabbed a 77 year old customer at a convenience store in Dimondale, Eaton County, Michigan.

Approx fifteen minutes later, the deputy pulled the suspects car over. You can hear sirens in the background, so obviously she knew the car held a dangerous subject and had backup already on the way.

Looks like a justifiable shoot to me.

  7. One of the local TV stations reported that she got three, solid hits on the goblin.

That is not out-of-line with the typical 25% hit-rate we sometimes hear.

The cop who shot Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri had a very high hit rate but was pulling to his (the cop's) left and stitched most of the shots into Brown's right arm. Except the last shot. That went into the top of his head.

Official back-channels are clamped down tight. I tickled my sources and they state everybody is screwed down tight. Almost like they expect the obligatory lawsuit and don't want to add fuel to the fire.
