A Chainsaw?

I've worked some suicides in my day, but I can't imagine what that scene looked like.

SPRINGFIELD, Va. --- A 76-year-old woman suffered non-life threatening injuries after her 70-year-old husband assaulted her with a hatchet before taking his own life with a chainsaw, according to police. 

Back in the day, when I was a plainclothes guy, I studied blood-spatter from a technical standpoint, although I haven't done any of that work since the mid  '90s.

I wonder if the chainsaw was still running when they got there?
