Ed McGivern

One of the legends of fast draw and revolver manipulation, Ed McGivern was a showman, a shooter, and an excellent shot.  Five shots on a bullseye target at 50 feet in 9/20th of a second.  All five holes can be covered wit a 50 cent piece.

Just Damn!

  1. McGivern's book, Fast and Fancy Revolver Shooting, was re-released in the 1980s. I picked up a copy at Borders. (You can probably find it on Amazon.)
He was a good shot, but his book is almost unreadable. If you can get through it (I could, but then I have a lot of experience reading government reports), there is a lot of interesting and useful information in there.
The best part (for me) is the photos, which would give any modern range safety officer a stroke. For example, he tests bulletproof glass by having one of his (apparently very trusting) friends hold it in front of his face while McGivern shoots it.
    It's a hoot. I highly recommend it.
