What's Your Home Defense Gun

Massad Ayoob wants to know.  It's a legit question, and there may be several correct answers.

For myself, a little J-frame Smith and Wesson is a constant companion.  Always and everywhere.  I haven't been without that pistol in civvies for the past 14 years.  At that time, I decided to conduct an experiment, and began carrying always and everywhere.

For a while, I carried a little Ruger LCP, but it got loaned out, or it needed cleaning, or something.  Right now, the LCP is in a convenient drawer near my computer.  But, the J-frame is in my pocket.  Always and everywhere.

So, what's your choice?

Was a 1911A1 Range Officer, but I got a deal on a P229 in .40S&W (LEO trade-in), & I love it. It goes where I go unless I'm working in the yard, when I stick the P64 in my pocket.

  2. Mine is the LCP in a hip pocket wallet holster. Yea it's small, but it's allways with me because its so easy to take.

  3. Upstairs, a Ruger Mark II -- it's my favorite "tuck in my belt" gun. Downstairs in my office a SW Model 19. In the garage a single action .22 revolver. In the field it's the Ruger except for deer season.

LW 38 Super Commander for away from home. Plus a 1911 in the tv room, and a 1911 in the living room, and a 1911 in the kitchen, and a 1911 in the bedroom, plus an AR-15 leaning behind the bedroom door.

    My $.02

  8. For the home: Glock 21 with Surefire light by the bed. That'll get me to the rifles.

For out and about: that do vary according to my mood, but it's usually something in .45.
