The Dalai Lama is on record as saying that the use of lethal force is moral & ethical to protect one's self from criminal attack, where there is a realistic fear of grave bodily harm or death.
He is not the pacifistic weakling that many people imagine.
My daughter has attended gatherings featuring the Lama so often that the last time she said he was boring. She's a pacifist. I about dropped the phone when she said she left the Lama and went with her future father-in-law to the range. She had fun. After shooting, they went to the horse races. There is hope!

"If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun."
