The San Antonio Police Department's Bomb Squad was called to a Southwest Side neighborhood Saturday after dozens of rounds of ammunition were found underneath a home. We're not talking about mortar ammo, or hand grenades, we're talking about standard handgun ammo and shotgun shells.
Capt. Troy Balcar of the San Antonio Fire Department said a family member found a sealed box with about 75 rounds of decades-old ammunition underneath the house. He said the rounds were about 40 years old, based on a date written on the box. Half a dozen nearby homes were evacuated for about three hours.
Family members said a veteran who served for more than 30 years lived at the house until he passed away recently. This is the second time old ammunition has been found at the home. Just last week, the bomb squad spent about half an hour disposing of shotgun shells found there.Nearby homes were evacuated?? Over handgun ammo??? The mind boggles. Have they lost their friggin' minds?
Holy Mary, Mother of God, don't let anyone call the bomb squad when I keel over. If it takes the Bomb Squad to dispose of handgun ammo and shotgun shells, they'll call out the nearest EOD unit when I expire.
I'm sure Milady knows what fits her guns, and the kids are welcome to rummage through my stocks. Better it be shot up at my wake than to leave it to the Bomb Squad.

ReplyDeleteAnd then there's the Brits who are in a league of their own. Someone had a meltdown over a pissy little 22 they found in the street.

What pathetic creatures theey have become. No wonder they are being invaded by middle eastern conquerors.
I think these imbeciles are a great candidate for "doofus of the day" over at bayourenaissanceman, no? Seriously, how do these people remember to breathe? Amazing. I wonder what they would do with a *real* explosive device. Pass out in terror, I suppose.
