If al-Qaeda wanted to revive slavery, it never said so. And why would it? Silence on slavery probably reflected strategic thinking, with public sympathies in mind: when the Islamic State began enslaving people, even some of its supporters balked. Nonetheless, the caliphate has continued to embrace slavery and crucifixion without apology. “We will conquer your Rome, break your crosses, and enslave your women,” Adnani, the spokesman, promised in one of his periodic valentines to the West. “If we do not reach that time, then our children and grandchildren will reach it, and they will sell your sons as slaves at the slave market.”Go read the whole thing, but from my cursory reading, it will take a while to absorb it all. Suffice to say that it appears that they're looking for a clash of civilizations, and they firmly rely on Islamic texts to base their beliefs and actions. Slavery, rustication, amputation and beheading are an integral part of that worldview and we ignore it at our risk.
The State Department's idiocy about ISIS wanting jobs is so far off the mark that it would be laugable if it were not so pathetic. They want world domination and they're working to get it.
They're WORKING and we're playing PC games... sigh
ReplyDeleteOur State Deptartment has managed, at the same time, to have it's fingers in it's ears and head up it's butt.
ReplyDeleteIf you can find a half hour this video is quite enlightening.
