Emerging from a hearing with NSA Director Gen. Keith Alexander, Reps. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), chairman of the Intelligence Committee, and Dutch Ruppersberger (Md.), the senior Democrat on the panel, said Edward Snowden simply wasn’t in the position to access the content of the communications gathered under National Security Agency programs, as he’s claimed.Okay, let's run with that. Snowden's lying. However, this story broke several days ago, and as Glenn Reynolds points out, if the story didn't have legs, if Snowden is in fact lying, we should have known that within hours. Not days.
“He was lying,” Rogers said. “He clearly has over-inflated his position, he has over-inflated his access and he’s even over-inflated what the actually technology of the programs would allow one to do. It’s impossible for him to do what he was saying he could do.”
Regardless, the government is in damage-control mode, which to my way of thinking, is the perfect position for them to find themselves in. I've been in damage-control mode for several years, trying to manage the damage the government is doing to us. Let's put them on the defensive for a while.
I've written to my Congressweasel, Rick Larson and my Senators, the not noticeably bright Patty Murray and the almost invisible Maria Cantwell telling them the same thing and reiterating my growing distrust of and utter disgust with my shameful government and asking why they all seem to want to cover for all the regime aparatchiks form the pResident down who are constantly violating their oaths of office and lying through their teeth. No answers so far.
ReplyDeleteThey are shitting down both legs.
ReplyDeleteJust think: if a little squirt like Snowden knows this much, what do the "heavies" know?
