SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based. So, they threw away their data, no other scientists can check their work, and we're just supposed to take their word for it, when we've caught them using terms like "fudge factor" and "hide the decline". So, if they've got no data, they've got no science.
It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.
The UEA’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation.
These guys should be cashiered from the academic community.
They will weasel around it, but they DEFINITELY should have their funding pulled...
ReplyDeleteWithout data all they have are anecdotes. Anecdotes can be interesting chat at a cocktail party, but that's all.
ReplyDeleteThese slimeballs need to be charged with fraud, and all funds recouped.

If you read the article, you'll notice that this happened in the eighties, before some of the people involved were even at the institution.
ReplyDeleteNow, if the raw data was only going to be mishandled by alarmist groups like the NZ organization in one of the recent posts, then this is no big loss. But don't let me get in the way of your alarmism-- probly more fun than reading, anyway.
Oyster. Are you saying that scientists shouldn't maintain data? I was taught that the basic data in any study should be kept pristine so that other scientists could attempt to replicate the analysis.
ReplyDeleteI'm not alarmed about the weather. I'm not even alarmed about the politicization of the weather. It's simply blog fodder. The guys that are alarmed are the ones trying to convince us that the weather might change. I'd say that's a given if we understand the history of this rock we call home.
