Chief Riley should be fired

Chief Warren Riley, of the New Orleans Police Department, says in this article that he will confiscate firearms if there is another emergency in New Orleans.

In direct violation of the Lousiana Constitution, in direct violation of the US Constitution, in direct violation of the civil rights of the people of New Orleans.

Ray Nagin should immediately fire this nitwit. It doesn't look like he's too damned smart. This is the sort of thing that got his predecessor run off. Taking firearms from law abiding citizens is a non-starter. Whether the big-city cops like it or not, Lousiana is an open carry state. They really should read those books we send them... you know... the law books.

  1. thank you! thats exactly what we thought when we read that article this morning. another thing, what does it say about your police department when the chief is publicly saying that he will both break and defy the very laws hes sworm to uphold? makes you wonder what other laws hes breaking too.

  2. Mitch Landrieu promised to conduct a nation-wide search for a new chief if elected.

Sadly, too many conservatives ignored this argument and chose Nagin because (in the most important N.O. mayoral election in a long time) they wanted to "stick it" to Mitch Landrieu's sister.

Meanwhile, Nagin will not re-evaluate Riley's performance until after hurricane season, and Riley has said he will not hesitate to take people's guns away.

Let history show that many GOP bigwigs preferred to embarrass Mitch Landrieu rather than toss out a mayor and police chief who have no respect for the 2nd amendment.

Someone should inform New Orleans residents that if Chief Riley confiscates their firearms, then they can and should swear out a warrant and have him arrested for armed robbery.
