Since I NEVER carry it in my hands with a sling on it and don't want rattly swivels it is a good deal.Hobiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13393344788210904114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12389938.post-70526134879892423562010-08-13T09:58:13.385-05:002010-08-13T09:58:13.385-05:00Heh. This story brings BIG grin to the Rivrdog'...Heh. This story brings BIG grin to the Rivrdog's face, because something like this happened to me.

When I was in the Marine Patrol, we had been agitating for a combat rifle or two for some time, with no success.

Finally, the Training Division condemned an AR that had been seized, and issued it. The druggies who had last owned it took poor care of it, and it was a beater!

I took it to the range and it shot fine, though. It had come with a decent combat bag and six magazines.

Soon enough, I was on orders to join the yippy-skippy Tactical Weapons Squad, a bunch of deputies who went around lording it up over their lesser bretheren and sisteren because THEY had ARs. I went out one time to practice with them. The Training Division didn't assign enough RSOs, so there was a long list to wait for individualized instruction.

While waiting, I challenged several of the loudest and most boastful young deputies to an informal match, at only 50 yards, and we posted targets. At "commence fire", we each fired 5 rounds, slow fire, at the pistol targets. I had 48, 2X on mine, shooting with a beater AR and no optics. The others had new rifles with the usual 1.5X optic, and none of them did better than 46, with one shooting in the 30s!

Next set of personnel orders came out, I had been dismissed from the clubby TWS. The Training Division came around and said my old AR "wasn't fit for service" and took it back.

We were issued Remington 870s with a deer barrel (open rifle sights), which suited me just fine anyway, since by then I was a Shotgun Master.Rivrdoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02685083857476811667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12389938.post-27648436926947330102010-08-13T01:32:20.030-05:002010-08-13T01:32:20.030-05:00I cried with laughter...
