UPS, Please

I get packages, just like everyone else.  Sometimes UPS, sometimes FedEx, sometimes Amazon.

UPS is problematic.  Their drivers are lazy, ignorant, or both.

Today, for example.  I ordered some ammo and some cleaning brushes from MidwayUSA.  UPS sent me a delivery notice. "ON THE PORCH".  I have two porches, so I went out to the front porch.  The one by the front door.  No package.  I went out to the back porch. No package.  Honestly, I doubted that the driver would have left it on the back porch, because that requires opening a gate. Still, no luck.

Belle and I started looking, and she found it leaning against the garage door. Which is not a porch, nor is it near a porch, nor is it where they said they left it. So, the driver is either lazy, ignorant, or both.

When I picked up the package, I found a hole in the box.  Luckily, nothing had spilled out, but I doubt that Midway shipped it with a hole in the box.

  2. It probably said "on the porch" because that was one of 4 allowed options, and by the garage wasn't...

We have problems with Fedex here. They hire contractors to do ground deliveries so I'm not sure complaining even has any effect at all.

At least UPS drivers are UPS employees so if you complain to them, they can actually do something about it.

UPS is generally pretty good here. Amazon is good if it is an Amazon driver, not one of their contractors. FEDEX is the pits.

  5. We have a sign on the back door which is the garage service door: "Please leave packages on front porch". UPS has repeatedly driven all the way around the house in order to pile up multiple boxes (think two cubic yards) against the garage door, blocking access for anyone wanting to park inside.
We have a sign on the front door with a big wheelchair symbol: "Please leave packages on the table. Do not block the door.". Bright pink paper. BIG LETTERS. Table to the right of the door. Can't miss it. Doorbell video shows delivery people looking at the sign, then piling boxes against the damn front door. Maybe we should use emojis instead of words.

  6. This may not be relevant. Here in Colorado they are hiring driver helpers. No drivers license required.

  7. I've got to the place; I double-check who is providing the shipping services. If it says FedEx or UPS, I contact whomever I am buying from and ask for a different carrier with an explanation as to why.

I have to deal with USPS since Amazon doesn't use UPS anymore. They will try to cram every package that MIGHT fit into the mailbox instead of driving down my driveway. The informed delivery app is useless since it shows delivery at the box when nothing is there..
