Greenland

I haven't really been following it, but I have been noticing this whole Greenland kerfuffle.

President Trump seems to think that it is strategically important, Denmark owns it, and President Trump is making noise about buying it.

It seems that a NATO military contingent has gone to recon it.

So an alternative to taking over. Why not negotiate a leased property ?

If strategic needs are met, why not offer to pay for renting land from the Greenland government ? Like Guantanamo North, so to speak. I'm sure the people of Greenland would greatly prefer that.

We used to have a bunch of bases there. We left all but one due to it not making strategic sense anymore. If we wanted to go back they would let us.

Don't know if it's accurate, I read that this was an already scheduled visit or exercise, not anything done in response to Trump.
