One Million Units

One Million Units.  That's the backorder at Sturm, Ruger.
Sturm, Ruger & Co. has hit a record and has a massive backlog – again. The demand for firearms is surpassing production by 2 million units, meaning that they need to produce an extra 2 million firearms just to fulfill their current orders. In other words, Ruger is very busy and cannot keep up with the current demand for firearms.
Ruger is a very popular brand, but they're not the only ones who are experiencing extreme demand. Most of the industry is struggling to keep up. They're not complaining, mind you, and they know that this bubble won't last forever. They're trying to cash in by bringing American consumers the products that they want.

The sporting arms and ammunition sector is the one glowing, red-hot bright spot in an otherwise lack-luster Obama economy, and they can thank the President for the continuing demand for their products.

Do you 'spose this will hurt their quality? In this sort of situation, most any manufacturer will at least consider line shortcuts.

Buyer beware!

Another interesting aspect of this escalating demand for firearms is the doubling in price, and demand, for unfinished AR-15 receivers. At the same time the price of commercially finished receivers has only increased slightly.
Why do you suppose that so many law-abiding citizens are suddenly interested in a rifle that the government doesn't know they have?
