Gun Walker, it keeps getting better

If you've been following the GunWalker scandal, you know that Representative Darrell Issa has subpoenaed a guy in the White House. Kevin O'Reilly supposedly had information that Issa wanted. Turns out, O'Reilly has been transferred. To Iraq.

Pajamas Media covers it all. It seems that O'Reilly got promoted to a post in the State Department, then transferred to Iraq.
Through a tip, PJ Media learned that Kevin O’Reilly was unexpectedly named director of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Bureau for Iraq (INL-Iraq). Long-time INL-Iraq employee Virginia Ramadan had been expected to get the position — many were quite surprised when she did not.
Quite convenient, don't you think? That a career bureaucrat was passed over for promotion when Obama needed O'Reilly out of the country? What a coincidence?

It seems that the White House said that O'Reilly was unavailable to testify to Congress, but Pajamas Media got his office on the phone. Imagine that! We've got phone lines that run all the way to Iraq!
On October 21, PJ Media reporter Patrick Richardson called the number for Office of the Director, INL-Iraq:

1-240-553-0581, ext. 3275

Richardson reached a voicemail message confirming that it was indeed the correct number. He left a message that was not returned.

On Monday Richardson called again, and an assistant answered. Richardson asked to speak with Kevin O’Reilly, and the assistant asked who was calling. Richardson gave his name and stated he was with PJ Media.

The assistant said O’Reilly was currently on a conference call, and asked if Richardson wanted to leave a message. Richardson gave his phone number. His call was not returned.

This morning, Richardson called again. He received a prerecorded message saying “this number is not in service.”
Not in service. You've got that right.

This is the most transparent government ever!

If Congress subpoenas someone, can't they send a US Marshal to make sure they turn up? I forsee Marshals going to Iraq. The question will be who gets to O'Reilly first, the marshall or an "insurgent" with an IED.

Time will tell if I need a tinfoil hat.

You can keep the tinfoil in your kitchen drawer, Denis. This is exactly what will happen: Issa will subpoena O'Reilly directly, through the office of his boss. When O'Reilly fails to appear, that boss gets cited for contempt of Congress, a felony, and goes to the slam (after exhausting his appeals). Then Issa goes after the next-higher boss.

After two such citations for Contempt of Congress, Holder/Obama will have the idea that Issa isn't going to be stopped by their games, and then there WILL be a Kaboom in Iraq.

If enough of us talk about it NOW, when it happens, Holder/Obama will not be able to hide behind "reasonable coincidence".
