HuffPost Notices

Adam Winkler, Professor of Law at UCLA has an article on the Huffington Post regarding the Fast and Furious scandal.
Now that Republicans in Congress won important concessions from President Obama in the debt ceiling debate, the next partisan battle is likely to be over what promises to be the first major scandal of the Obama administration: the botched gun sting known as "Operation Fast and Furious." The administration should waste no time and come clean about what happened, who approved it, and how it can be avoided again.
That's not likely to happen. The President is not going to stand before Congress and tell them that his DOJ head conspired with other top ranking officials to subvert US law for political purposes.
Unfortunately, the early signs are that Obama is going to handle this controversy as poorly as he handled the debt ceiling debate.
That's a shame. He should come clean immediately about the operation, fire everyone who knew about it, appoint a special prosecutor, then resign in disgrace.

US laws have been broken and US agents have been murdered, along with dozens if not hundreds of Mexican nationals.

Many of us were alive when a simple break-in and coverup derailed the Nixon presidency. This is larger than that crisis by several orders of magnitude. President Clinton was impeached for sexual escapades. The Fast and Furious operation shows that the highest levels of the Executive Branch have no moral compass, no respect for US laws and are willing to break those laws to advance a political agenda.

The idea that the President was unaware of the operation is laughable. Any reasonable man could conclude that he knew about it, even if he didn't approve it.

The fact that the Huffington Post is talking about it speaks volumes that the scandal is about to break wide open. The President should come clean, appoint a special prosecutor, and step down. Laws have been broken and people have been murdered.

Not gonna happen under this administration. It will be C.Y.A. from the white house to the out house. Invest in metals, lead and brass. Keep your powder dry.
