Well-Connected

It turns out that the guy who headed the Chicago school system kept a list of well-connected donors and politicos and helped to make sure that their kids got into the best schools in Chicago.
The log is a compilation of politicians and influential business people who interceded on behalf of children during Duncan's tenure. It includes 25 aldermen, Mayor Richard Daley's office, House Speaker Michael Madigan, his daughter Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, former White House social secretary Desiree Rogers and former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun.
That shouldn't surprise anyone. It's Chicago, after all.
The list surfaced amid a federal probe and an internal investigation into admissions practices at the city's top high schools. Until Monday, the district had not revealed it had kept such a list.
You don't think they'd just admit to something like that, would you? That would be ... corrupt.

Of course, the guy running the schools was a fellow named Arne Duncan. If that name doesn't ring a bell, he's your Secretary of Education under President Obama. He's part of the Hopenchange administration that promised us transparent, accountable government.

I bet they've already started a list for kidney transplants.

Hat tip, Instapundit.
