Transparency

The new administration will certainly be transparent. The guy who was tapped to conduct the investigation into the Blagojevich - Obama connection was none other than Gregory Craig, the incoming White House counsel.

His report is basically, nothing to see here, move along.

It's interesting that Craig is a Clinton retread, the same guy who was involved in the Elias Gonzalez debacle. He also defended Clinton against impeachment and defended John Hinkley, Reagan's assassin, and Ted Kennedy during the William Kennedy Smith rape trial. The guy is a criminal defense lawyer.

The guy is a defense lawyer. That begs a couple of interesting questions about his perspective when conducting an investigation into possible wrongdoing by the incoming administration. I've seen defense lawyers work, and while everyone needs a good defense, they're not noted for being independent and unbiased. Quite the contrary. Criminal defense lawyers are noted for vigorously defending a client against the charges of the state.

So, we have a report from Obama's defense lawyer that there was very little communication between Blago and the incoming White House. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Another interesting question would be why Obama thinks he needs a criminal defense lawyer as White House Counsel? That is indeed an interesting question.

So much for transparency.
